I’m just so thankful for captions right now. I’m trying to catch up on all of my “videos to watch” but my APD is playing up and every noise feels like someone is stabbing my brain. Even the “silence” hurts. But it hurts less. I do miss hearing your accent though, it just sounds like… home.

I’m mainly just blethering nonsense at this point and the video has barely started… whoops?

I’ve just realised that this is one of those times when I used to think/wonder; “I wish I could remove my cochlea…” or “I wish I could go deaf” I am thankful for my hearing though. Even though it pains me… and I would still LOVE for someone to invent “reverse hearing aids” and I /still/ would never take them off I got them…

I hardly ever comment on videos… when I watch your ones though, I always feel some kind of “need” or “want” to interact. It’s kind of strange.

I’m coping enough to put the laptop volume on the lowest and youtube volume on the lowest and turn the sound on! I feel strangely proud…

My laptop is making a strange tapping (?) noise though and it makes me want to tear my face off…

I ramble a lot. Sorry.

I’ve been loving these Deaf Awareness Month videos, thanks so much for making them! I’m HOH and hearing people never quite seem to understand that even though I have hearing aids, they’re not magic and my hearing isn’t exactly like theirs. Looking forward to you talking about how to jazz them up, I’ve never even thought to do so!

I used to wear cross hearing aids in my teens. I had the same problem, in loud settings they were sort of useless. They also muffled the noise in my hearing ear. I was on state insurance (I’m from Arizona, USA) and it was covered. When I turned 21, it broke, and hearing aids, glasses, and dental were no longer covered.

CryptoDeaf says:

My hearing amplifiers bring me up to being moderate to severe hard of hearing. I know with proper hearing loss treatment for my kind of hearing loss my hearing can be greatly benefited to allow me to hear even better with just hearing aids. I have mixed hearing loss which when combined makes me deaf.

BTW, to clean my ears I use hydrogen peroxide to boil out the wax a few minutes per ear and drain them into a clean wash cloth, then take a shower and spray gently warm water in my ears to flush them out. Do this once every two weeks. Works great.
